Romeo And Juliet Summary

The story of Romeo and Juliet is a thrilling tale from ancient times. Their story is based on an Italian fable that has also been adapted into a poem, The Tragical History of Romeo and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562, and told in prose form by William Painter at the Palace in 1567. .

Shakespeare mentioned many influential characters in it, mainly including Mercuto and Paris. Shakespeare is said to have written the story between 1591 and 1595, and the play was published in book form in 1597.

The quality of the word written in the first book was quite poor, whereas in the later version it was well printed and in better quality words.

Shakespeare used his poems in dramatic and comic form, people were already greatly influenced by Shakespeare’s dramatic art. He had created different humorous poems for different characters in the play. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo was shown to be quite accomplished.

The love story of Romeo and Juliet has been used in many films, songs, and opera scenes. At the time of the English Restoration, it was revived by William Davenant.

In the 18th century, many of the scenes in this story were heavily modified by David Garrick, who removed vulgar scenes from the play, and George Benda’s Romeo and Juliet removed many of the action scenes and had a happy ending.

In the 19th century, many words were changed in his drama and the drama was made realistic. After this, the film Romeo and Juliet was also made based on his story in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Summary of his story –

Romeo and Juliet fall in love during a party. But they both belonged to families that hated each other. He was fully aware that his family would not allow him to marry. Nevertheless, they secretly married with the assistance of Friar Lawrence.


Romeo had killed Juliet’s brother Duel the night before their wedding, and in the morning Romeo insisted that Juliet leave him. Because if he ever came to that city again, he would have been killed.

Juliet’s parents ask Juliet to marry Paris. But Juliet’s parents did not know that Juliet was already married to Romeo.

Initially, Juliet refused to marry because Juliet had planned to feign her death and run away with Romeo, a plan she had also made with Friar Lawrence.

Friar Lawrence had set the whole plan. He had given Juliet a sleeping pill. So that it seems that he has died and then he can be put in the tomb.

While Romeo did not know anything about this plan, he reached there pretending to be serious and Romeo thought that Juliet was really dead and thinking so, Romeo killed himself as well. And when Juliet finally regains consciousness, she finds that Romeo is dead and then Juliet also kills herself.
